Our First Check-In

We "installed" the bees on Easter Sunday, and went back one week later to check on how they were doing.

We checked out the white box first:

First thing we notice is that they haven't had a lot of the sugar syrup from the mason jar.

They seemed quite crowded at the slot in the top board.

There are quite a few dead bees by the entrance.

Inside the white hive, almost all the pollen patty was consumed. We added about 1/2 gallon of syrup to the reservoir.

We saw some queen cells! This made us a bit worried.

The bees created a bulbous area of wax cells.

We removed the queen cage.
